Health & Safety

How frequently will hand washing occur?

Staff and participants will frequently be asked to wash their hands during transitions, when they arrive, before leaving for the day and before eating a snack. Hand washing and/or the use of hand sanitizer will be frequently encouraged throughout the day particularly after touching the face, use of tissues, or if they have come into contact with a shared item or space.

How are OC Academy classrooms kept clean?

Throughout the day, One Child staff and participants (if appropriate) will be asked to wipe down their space or items that they have touched.  At the conclusion of each day, every surface is wiped down with products from the CDC-approved cleaning materials list, trash will be taken to the dumpster, and the rooms will be sprayed down with Lysol.

How does notification work if an individual tests positive for COVID-19?

If a case of COVID-19 is reported, all staff and families that came into prolonged close contact (defined as being within 6 feet of someone with confirmed COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes) with that person will be notified and will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. Due to privacy issues and HIPAA laws, the identity of the person will remain anonymous. One Child will notify the local health department in the event of a confirmed COVID-19 case.

Will social distancing be practiced?

Yes, in the classrooms children will be seated at a safe distance from one another. Movement activities will be planned to allow for social distancing. It is important to note that social distancing is not possible during one-on-one instruction with the Educational Assistant and the assigned Teacher.

Are masks required?

Yes, children and staff will be required to wear face coverings (covering their nose and mouth). We understand that 100% compliance by kids is not always possible but Staff will work to ensure that masks are worn and that breaks are given.
