Tuesday, 03/31/2020: COVID-19- UPDATE
One Child has decided to postpone all group activities (social clubs, social skills groups) for the remainder of the Spring Semester. We are considering online options for these programs and will contact families as we develop appropriate plans. One Child has canceled Kids’ Night indefinitely until it is deemed safe to resume, please check the Kids’ Night webpage for updates. One Child will remain open for individual therapy sessions (center-based or in-home).

Dear One Child Community,
With the announcement of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) infection as a Pandemic, we wanted to take this moment to communicate to our One Child families that we are mindfully and intentionally staying informed using reliable news sources; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html), and the Virginia Department of Health (http://www.vdh.virginia.gov). One Child has made the follow decisions regarding our services given the current climate.
Kids’ Night:
One Child has made the difficult decision to cancel Kids’ Night scheduled for March 21, 2020. Unfortunately, numerous participants have underlying conditions that make them high-risk for infection if they were to be exposed. One Child anticipated nearly 200 participants at March’s Kids’ Night between children, volunteers, and staff from localities all over the Peninsula; with this broad reach, One Child decided the risk was too great. We will assess in April whether we can safely proceed with Kids’ Night next month.
Center-Based & In-Home Activities:
One Child intends at this time to stay open for center-based (social skills groups, occupational therapy, ABA, and social clubs) and in-home therapy services, even if schools close. Many of the practices that One Child has in place to prevent our staff and families from spreading other contagious illnesses, such as the flu, are also being used to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Frequent handwashing, reminding children to cough into their arm when possible, use of approved sanitation solutions to disinfect learning environments are all happening several times throughout the day.
We know this can be a stressful time for our families. One Child is working to ensure consistency for our families while also remaining vigilant in staying up to date with all local and national recommendations regarding business closures.

One Child will be closed until 12:30pm. All afternoon sessions will continue as scheduled.
Thursday, 02/20/2020:
All Social Skills Groups have been canceled for tonight. Individual sessions will be conducted as scheduled. Individual therapists will reach out to you if this changes.
Thursday, 10/11/2018:
One Child will close at 5:3opm tonight due to anticipated bad weather. Play Pals WILL meet tonight but all other programs have been Canceled.

Due to the inclement weather and the possibility of worsening conditions tonight, all Social Skills Groups are canceled. Individual Therapy Sessions will be conducted on a case by case basis. Therapists will be contacting families to confirm sessions.
Thursday, 1/18/18:
Due to WJCC Schools closure, all Social Skills Groups are canceled. Social Skills Groups will make up the session on March 8th. Individual Therapy Sessions will be conducted on a case by case basis. Therapists will be contacting families to confirm sessions.
Wednesday, 1/17/18:
Due to WJCC Schools closure and the impending weather, Team Navigators is Canceled for January 17th. Individual Therapy Sessions will be conducted on a case by case basis. Therapists will be contacting families to confirm sessions.
Wednesday, 1/10/18:
Due to WJCC Schools closure, Team Navigators is canceled. The missed session will be made up on March 7th! Individual Therapy Sessions will continue as scheduled.
Tuesday, 1/9/18:
Due to WJCC Schools closure and a water main break, all Social Skills Groups are canceled and all Individual Therapy Sessions are canceled. Social Skills Groups will make up the session on March 6th.
